Phi Phi Island is often seen as a bustling tourist hotspot, but spending a full week there reveals a quieter, more refreshing side of this famous destination. After recently returning from a seven-day stay at Saii Phi Phi, I discovered how to enjoy the island beyond the usual crowds and hectic pace. Travelling by hotel speedboat, exploring iconic filming locations, and immersing myself in the vibrant underwater world made this trip a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.

Getting There and Settling In

The journey to Phi Phi Island started with a smooth ride on the Saii Phi Phi hotel speedboat. This mode of transport is not only convenient but also offers stunning views of the Andaman Sea. Arriving early in the day allowed me to avoid the afternoon rush of tourists and settle into the island’s rhythm.

Saii Phi Phi is located in a quieter part of the island, providing a peaceful retreat after busy days of exploring. The hotel’s friendly staff and comfortable rooms made it easy to recharge. Staying here felt like having a private sanctuary close to the island’s main attractions.

Visiting the Beach Where the Movie Was Filmed

One of the highlights was visiting the famous beach featured in the movie The Beach. This spot draws many visitors, but arriving early in the morning made all the difference. The soft sand and crystal-clear water were almost untouched, giving a rare chance to enjoy the scenery without crowds.

The beach’s natural beauty is striking, with towering limestone cliffs framing the bay. It’s a reminder of why this location was chosen for the film. Spending a few hours here, swimming and soaking in the views, was a peaceful experience that contrasted with the usual busy tourist scenes.

Snorkelling Adventures and Marine Life

Phi Phi Island is known for its underwater world, and snorkelling here did not disappoint. The waters around the island are home to a variety of colourful fish and coral formations. Exploring these vibrant ecosystems felt like entering another world.

Some of the best snorkelling spots are close to the shore, making it easy to jump in whenever the mood strikes. I saw schools of bright fish darting through coral gardens and even spotted a few sea turtles. The clear water and warm temperatures make snorkelling accessible for all skill levels.

Relaxing and Recharging on the Island

Beyond the activities, Phi Phi Island offers plenty of opportunities to relax. Whether lounging on the beach, enjoying fresh seafood at local restaurants, or watching the sunset from a quiet spot, the island encourages slowing down.

The natural surroundings create a calming atmosphere. The sound of gentle waves and the sight of palm trees swaying in the breeze help clear the mind. This made it easy to recharge after busy days and return home feeling refreshed.
